Each weekend, starting Friday, I will be giving away something for free; to start it might only be textures, but as I get more into (digital) mixed media, it might be digital stencils, digital brushes, or even an image that you can use. I hope that you enjoy creating with the freebies.
Note: The file will expire Sunday evening at 9:30 PM (Pacific Time). The file is temporarily stored on Dropbox. If you don’t have an account, or don’t want to create one, go to the bottom of the dialog box and click on “NO thanks, continue to view”

Today’s freebie was created using Alcohol Ink on Yupo paper. I scanned it in at 600 dpi so you have a high resolution image to play with. The final image size, after shrinking down a bit, is 6000 x 4000 @ 300 dpi.
Mary, at Cactus Haiku, was kind enough to share her before and after photos using this texture. Thank you, Mary! Check out her post to read the haiku/senryu and her references.
I would love to see what you create with this texture. Feel free to leave a link to where you’ve posted a picture.
You may sell any artwork you create with this texture, as long as it is not the dominant part of your artwork.
You MAY NOT sell the texture as your own or include it as part of a group/package of downloads.
Questions? Confused? Contact me!

As you sounded like you needed a test subject, I downloaded from ExpireBox with no problems. I can download 2 ways, one as a Save As and one as opening directly into a program, in my case, CC Photoshop. Both ways of downloading worked for me.

Mary, I didn’t want to delete your whole message so I trimmed it down so others might see that ExpireBox works okay. Thank you for testing it out.

Hi Debbie, used your texture in the sky and sea areas, blend mode soft light, opacity 100% here

I’d paste a before and after jpg in here but I’m not sure it works in comments.

I ended up using the pic for a poem for Cactus Haiku and the before is there — I can also email it to you as MNL.

Mary, It’s up to you…if you want to help promote your Kayla WordPress site, you can do a pingback like you did with Cactus Haiku. Or, I can do a screen grab, post them at the bottom of the blog with a link back to C.H.
