Out of the 2 days of shooting my gladiolus, and close to 100 shots, I think this one is becoming my favorite so far. It’s all about the lighting, and by lighting I mean an LED “pen” with a bank of 5 or 6 lights. Since the aperture was all the way closed at f/22, the flashlight from my iPhone wasn’t strong enough for the 1 second shot.
Setup for the shot was easy. I had about 9 stalks in a vase on the floor of the garage. Camera was on a tripod. I set the ISO to 200 and the shutter speed to 1 second, then I turned out all the lights. Lighting was using an LED pen, moving it back and forth for the 1 second. Minimal processing to the RAW file was done in Capture One Express Fujifilm.
