While out running errands yesterday I decided to stop at Home Depot. I’ve been looking for some “society garlic” plants to (hopefully) keep the gophers away. I lucked out and they had them in several different sizes. I got 2 for the front yard and 2 for the back yard. While wandering around, looking at all the pretty flowers, I came across this beautiful pink exotic looking flower. When I saw the name, I knew I had to get a couple…they are called Ging – Curcuma Thorelli Chiangmai Pink and they are a type of ginger. My eye caught the name Chiangmai, and with that being one of my favorite cities (but spelled Chiang Mai) in Thailand I knew I wanted these flowers. This morning, while thinking more about why I wanted these flowers so much, it occurred to me that the petals very closely resemble a water lily…which is one of my favorite flowers that I wish I had here at the house.

You have a front yard AND a back yard?

I thought everyone did! 🙂 The gophers, weeds, and the dog share the back yard…so I guess technically I don’t have a back yard. Living in the “burbs” in a neighborhood that was built in the late ‘50s/early ‘60s, we have pretty big sized lots with front and back yards.
