I have some cool neighbors! Since I live on a corner lot, I have 2 neighbors “across the street”. The neighbor across the street from the side of the house called to let me know she had some kind of purple flowers growing and asked if I was interested in taking pictures of them…of course I said “yes!” She had planted 4 different kinds of plants in a planter thinking that 1 of the 4 would surely survive; all 4 plants are thriving but she doesn’t remember any of their names.
The plant that today’s purple flower comes from is very cool. The flowers grow similar to the Mexican Sage Bush, but on a much smaller scale and they aren’t as close together as on the MSB; they are very dainty. Then there’s the leaves, red and green with serrated edges. I’m going to have to call her and use my PlantSnap app to see if it can tell us what the plant is called. In doing an internet search before closing this post, it looks like it might be in the Coleus family, but not all of the photos I’ve come across show the flower in great detail. I’ll update this post when I find out.
