My new batch of fortnight lilies have had something eating the petals before they even open. Last night I saw a pincher bug with only its head on the tip of one of the lilies (the rest of the body was dangling off the side). I was torn between running back in the house for my camera and tripod and a flashlight for lighting, and blowing the little sucker off my “baby”…protecting my flower won out. I took in a deep breath and blew the little sucker off the petal! This morning there was a fly hanging out on a different flower, it stayed in one place and let me take its photo…3 times! Each time I changed angles as I moved from its side to facing it head on. This was the third photo.

The fly was definitely real…I went to take a 4th photo and it flew away. I’m using the Fuji X-T3 with kit lens, for this photo I also used the Meike 16mm extension tube. The real close shot is a crop from the original photo.Reply

Thanks. I see the review. Good choice. Though I prefer the lens 18-200mm (nikon) Makes life easy hahaha 🙂 For this Fuji Xt, the one I see is 55-200.Reply

I certainly understand that (18-200mm), but since my preference is macro, I’m more than happy with the kit lens (and its 2.8 aperture in 18mm). I’m looking to pick up a couple of prime lenses (100mm macro and maybe a 16 or 23mm 1.something for night shots…if I ever get to travel again).Reply
